Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has slammed a report that the club is thinking about cutting short Kalvin Phillips’ loan spell in January.
Earlier this week, ‘Football Insider’ stated that the Blues would ‘consider sending the 28-year-old back to Man City early if he cannot demonstrate that he is up to speed’.
Asked about that following his side’s dramatic 4-3 defeat at Brentford this afternoon, McKenna replied: “What can I say on that? Proper, proper nonsense.
“I learned quite a while ago in football that you can write something online and it circulates and gets picked up by quite a lot of media outlets and then it becomes a story.
“It’s absolute nonsense. There have been no conversations of the like and I think it’s a real, real shame. He had a very good game.”
Phillips is one of just two Town central midfielders currently fit, with Sam Morsy, Jack Taylor and Massimo Luongo all sidelined.
