Ipswich Town fans react as Town Defender named in top-rated Premier League team of the month for September

An Ipswich Town player has been named in Who Scored’s top-rated Premier League team of the month for September.

Defender Leif Davis has secured a spot in the starting eleven for the best performing players last month with the Blues now four games unbeaten in the league including Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Portman Road.

The 24-year-old Englishman produced three solid displays in September from left-back and has earnt a 7.21 WhoScored.com rating, helped by an impressive seven key passes against Unai Emery’s side at the weekend who beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League yesterday.

Davis was one of six players included in the shortlist for the PFA Championship Player of the Year award for 2023/24 after breaking the assists record for a defender in the second tier, his 18 eclipsing the 14 joint record previously held by Kieran Trippier (Burnley, 2013/14) and Barry Douglas (Wolves, 2017/18).

The rest of the players in Who Scored’s team of the month for September included Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya, defender Gabriel Magalhaes and winger Bukayo Saka.

The rest of the team was made up of Leicester duo James Justin and Wilfried Ndidi, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Liverpool pair Virgil Van Dijk and Luis Diaz, Everton midfielder Dwight McNeil and Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland.

Kieran McKenna’s men now face a struggling West Ham side away from home on Saturday with kick-off at 3pm.
