BREAKING NEWS: Ipswich Town submit £5 Million Asking Price For Key Target

Ipswich Town are in the market for new attacking players this summer and have registered interest in Millwall star Zian Flemming, according to reports last week.

The Tractor Boys are back in the top-flight for the first time since 2002 and despite still celebrating promotion, work has now begun behind the scenes to strengthen the squad ahead of what will be a difficult fight to remain in the Premier League next season.

Portman Road has become an incredibly enticing prospect for players, having gone from League One football to the Premier League in a matter of 12 months. Furthermore, the Suffolk-based club have been predicted to make £150 million in their first season back in the top tier of English football.

This newfound wealth will help Ipswich Town become more active in the transfer market. It was revealed this week by the South London Press that Kieran McKenna’s side are one of the suitors for Millwall star Flemming. The outlet are also claiming that the Lions are bracing themselves for offers for the Dutchman this summer, meaning they could be open to letting the 25-year-old leave for the right price.

Journalist Alan Nixon provided an update on this transfer saga, stating that the London outfit are holding out for £5 million and will likely accept an offer from any interested parties should they meet this valuation.

It was a difficult season for Millwall, with the club battling against relegation for the majority of the campaign until Neil Harris was re-appointed as head coach. The Dutch attacker finished as the side’s top goalscorer and assister, having bagged nine goals and recorded six assists in all competitions. Now, he could be on his way to Ipswich this summer.

In the past, clubs have been promoted to the Premier League and spent huge wads of cash in the hopes of survival. Fulham in previous campaigns and Burnley this season are just two examples of clubs who threw everything at staving off the drop and ultimately failed.

There is a chance that Ipswich Town get relegated next season so the recruitment team will need to be wise in the transfer market to ensure that the squad doesn’t become overpaid and bloated. Signing Flemming for just £5 million would certainly be a smart signing, particularly if the club cannot re-sign Jeremy Sarmiento and Omari Hutchinson this summer.
