BREAKING NEWS: Leicester City handed surprise boost as Tottenham confirm £30m star will miss Premier League opener

Tottenham will travel to the King Power Stadium hoping for a good start to the Premier League season.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that midfielder Yves Bissouma will miss the game against Leicester on Monday night as he is internally suspended. The Mali midfielder was signed from Brighton on a four-year deal worth £30million in 2022.

The reason for his suspension is that he uploaded clips of himself using the Class C drug—known as ‘hippy crack’—onto Snapchat this week. The 27-year-old could be seen laughing while inhaling from a balloon in the footage he shared with his followers.

The incident occurred just hours after Spurs’ final pre-season clash, where they lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich in the Visit Malta Cup.

Postecoglou said ahead of the game on Monday night, “The second part of that is he is also a footballer. He has responsibilities—a responsibility to the club, his teammates, our supporters, and everyone associated with the club—and he failed in those duties.

“There have got to be sanctions for that. He won’t be available on Monday. We have suspended him for Monday’s game.

“Beyond that, there is also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, and Biss and the group. That’s what he needs to work hard at from now on, to try and win that back, and that has nothing to do with just one game.

“He may be suspended for one game, but he is going to have to earn his place back. The door is open for him, and hopefully, we can help him realize that the decisions he makes impact more than just himself. Hopefully, this will allow him to make better decisions going forward.”

This incident will deprive Tottenham of one of their top midfielders and give Leicester, who are returning to the Premier League after a season in the Championship, a boost. The Foxes lost manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea but have the experienced Steve Cooper at the helm.
