Ipswich Town beat West Ham in race to sign 12-goal Hull City machine

Hull City winger Jaden Philogene is on the radar of Ipswich Town and West Ham, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano.

Hull City will face a battle to keep hold of the attacker this summer amid interest from elsewhere.

Philogene, 22, has been linked with a surprise switch to La Liga giants Barcelona in this window, as per Football Insider.

According to journalist Romano on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, via GiveMeSport, he has said: “There is also interest from several Premier League clubs, especially from West Ham and Ipswich Town. These two clubs have already reached out to the player’s side to understand the conditions of the deal in this case.

“Remember that the player, in the future, will have a possibility to return to Aston Villa. Villa have a matching clause into the contract of Philogene, so they have the possibility in the future to bring the player back.”

Hull City star eyed by Ipswich Town and West Ham

Hull City landed Philogene last year and he remains under contract at the MKM Stadium until June 2026 meaning that they are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.

The England youth international chipped in with 12 goals and six assists last season as the Tigers narrowly missed out on the play-offs. They ended in 7th place and were three points off the top six.

He was on the books at Aston Villa from 2018 to 2023 and made six first-team appearances for the Premier League side.

The Londoner was also loaned out to Stoke City and Cardiff City in the Championship to get some experience under his belt.

Philogene’s decision to drop down a division on a permanent basis to join Hull City has worked out well for him and has put him firmly in the shop window.

What next?

There is an air of inevitability that he will move on from East Yorkshire in the near future.

Hull City will want to get the best deal for him though and will need to replace him.

They are gearing up for life under new boss Tim Walter following Liam Rosenior’s surprise sacking.

Both Ipswich Town and West Ham could offer Philogene the chance to play in the top flight in the next campaign. They may need to fend off competition from Barcelona though.
