Ipswich Town: Blues linked with Venezia midfielder Tanner Tessmann as deal to be settle in few hours

Ipswich Town are keen on a loan deal for Tanner Tessmann if he joins Inter Milan from Venezia this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The midfielder, who has two senior caps for the United States national team, came through the ranks at MLS side FC Dallas, returning to the club after a brief spell with their USL League One affiliate team North Texas SC in 2019.

He made 28 appearances for them across the 2020 and 2021 campaigns before moving to Europe, joining Venezia following their promotion to Serie A.

Tessmann played 20 games in the Italian top flight as they were relegated to Serie B, but he opted to stay in Venice and help his side secure their return last season as they finished third and won the play-offs.

In fact, the 2023/24 campaign was his best in terms of attacking contributions, bagging six goals and three assists in 37 matches.

Despite guiding his side back to Serie A, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Inter Milan are pushing to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal this week

If they do so, they’ll look to send him out on loan for the upcoming campaign, with Ipswich and Eredivisie side Feyenoord named as ‘two among many clubs showing an interest’ in him.

Tessmann has also been linked with Everton, Chelsea and Bologna in recent weeks, although it remains to be seen if they’re still keen on a loan deal should his move to Inter be confirmed this week.
As with any link from Fabrizio Romano, there’s almost certainly something in it, but to what extent Town are interested in Tessmann remains to be seen. It’s always important to be cautious when they’re listed as ‘one of many’ sides targeting a player, and there’s clearly a lot of teams chasing this deal.
