Ipswich Town club linked with move for 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner

Manchester City Academy product Kelechi Iheanacho has been without a club since leaving Leicester City as a free agent last month but isn’t without suitors.

According to Football Insider, Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are the latest club interested in signing the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner.

Ipswich scored a whopping 92 goals in the English Championship last term, making them the most prolific team in the division but had no standout goal-scoring forward.

Conor Chaplin and Nathan Broadhead were the club’s top scorers last season with 13 goals apiece with former Chelsea forward Omari Hutchison joining the pair as the only players to have registered double digit for goals last term.

With the lack of a prolific goalscorer, the Tractor Boys are in the market for a new forward and Iheanacho is on their radar based on his quality and his Premier League experience, a scarce quality in Kieran McKenna’s side.

Aston Villa are also another side that have been credited with an interest in the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner but a move to the Portman Road Stadium could be more beneficial.

He would play second fiddle to Ollie Watkins at Villa Park while he stands a good chance of becoming the first choice at Ipswich Town.
