Ipswich Town hit hot negotiations as £350,000 price tag set for Championship clubs deal before 30th

Ipswich Town want around £350,000 for Idris El Mizouni with Oxford United keen and Derby County likely to revive their interest, as per TWTD.

Ipswich Town sent midfielder Idris El Mizouni out on a second loan to Leyton Orient last season, giving him another shot at finding regular minutes away from Portman Road.

He would flourish with the O’s again, proving himself as a reliable option at third-tier level before injury brought an early end to his season. However, as a result of the Tractor Boys’ promotion, the Tunisian is widely expected to move on.

Such developments were bound to draw EFL attention, and claims of interest have now emerged from TWTD.

ipswich town, Ipswich Town set £350,000 price tag as Championship clubs eye midfielder

They report that Ipswich Town have slapped a price tag of around £350,000 on El Mizouni. Loan club Leyton Orient are keen, but at that value, they may be priced out of a permanent deal for the midfielder.

Championship new boys Oxford United are interested, while previous admirers and fellow promotion winners Derby County are likely to revive their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Ready for a permanent move

Having impressed in League Two and then League One over the past couple of seasons, it seems as though the time has come for El Mizouni to make a step up. The Championship could be the ideal destination, and this time around, he’d be better off heading out permanently.

From his perspective, he’ll be able to settle at a permanent home after a couple years on loan.

From the Ipswich Town point of view, they’d be letting El Mizouni move out for a fee rather than potentially losing him for nothing next summer. It makes for smart business, even if it potentially pushes Leyton Orient out of the chase for a reunion.

Championship admirers Oxford United and Derby County will be better placed to get a deal done. It remains to be seen whether their interest is firmed up though, and it would not be a surprise if further interest emerges either.

Kicking on away from Portman Road

El Mizouni had long been viewed as a top talent at Ipswich Town but regular first-team chances were eluding him, hence the decision to send him out on a temporary basis.

After spells with Cambridge United and Grimsby Town, it was Leyton Orient where he really found his feet.

The midfielder was key in getting the O’s to League One and he was vital in consolidating their place there too. As such, it’s no surprise they would be interesting in getting him back.

Championship interest and the £350,000 valuation could make that tricky though.
