Ipswich Town are keen to bring Omari Hutchinson back and Chelsea look assured to offer him a new contract

Ipswich Town moved to bring Hutchinson in on loan last summer, giving the youngster his first shot at regular first-team football away from parent club Chelsea.

And, as the season has done on, the Jamaican starlet’s influence has increased significantly. Overall, he’s notched 10 goals and six assists in 49 games for the Tractor Boys as they’ve embarked on a remarkable run to 2nd in the Championship table.

The 20-year-old has become a regular starter on the right-wing, though Kieran McKenna has also deployed him on the left and in attacking midfield to great success.

Such form combined with Ipswich’s place on the brink of a rise to the Premier League has seen questions of a Hutchinson return arise, and fresh claims on the matter have now emerged.

TEAMtalk states that Ipswich Town are interested in bringing the 20-year-old back to Portman Road for next season on another loan deal.

Chelsea are keen to extend Hutchinson’s deal beyond 2025, which would likely pave the way for another loan.

While Ipswich are keen, it is added that the former Arsenal talent has ‘very good options’ in Europe too.

A return on the cards?

You have to think Ipswich Town will have to be promoted if they want to bring Hutchinson back. After such a season for the young Chelsea ace, a step up to top-flight football surely awaits.

Even then, it looks as though there will be competition for his signature with European sides keen.

However, having enjoyed such success under Kieran McKenna at Portman Road, that should go a long way in the Tractor Boys’ bid to bring Hutchinson back for a second stint. He’s already settled in with the East Anglian side, so it could be the ideal place for him to step up to regular Premier League football.

It remains to be seen just what comes of his situation at Chelsea but until then, all focus will be on finishing the job with Ipswich Town.

A single point against Huddersfield Town will see the club complete a historic promotion to the Premier League. Hutchinson, regardless of whether he returns or heads elsewhere, will have played an influential role in that incredible feat.
