PSL rumours: Kaizer Chiefs chasing FOUR attackers

Kaizer Chiefs were reminded they need a new prolific marksman in their 1-0 defeat to SuperSport and Gavin Hunt on Saturday.

Chiefs are chasing four players to sharpen the final third

Kaizer Chiefs’ attacking wish list for January?

Fiston Mayele

It’s no secret that Chiefs wanted to sign the prolific Congolese marksman in winter. However, price tags and wage demands got in the way. Could another offer be on the cards in January? By then his deal with Pyramids FC will be one year closer to expiring.

Oswin Appollis

One of Bafana Bafana’s most exciting new faces is wanted around South Africa and in parts of North Africa. The 23-year-old Polokwane winger has the attributes, body type and player profile to make mincemeat of defenders in the Betway Premiership. Will Chiefs cough up the cash?

Michael Olunga

The 30-year-old Kenyan legend has a gobsmacking record in front of goal. Olunga bagged a hat-trick in the first match of this season’s Qatar Stars League. In his entire club career, he’s scored a stunning tally of 190 goals in 252 matches. In his last 62 league matches in Qatar, he’s scored a ludicrous 63 goals. No matter who you’re playing for, a scoring rate of more than a goal per game is absurd.

Orlando Pirates find a new gem

19-year-old Mohau Nkota has clearly seen his teammate Relebohile Mofokeng in action for the Pirates first team. The Buccaneers beat AmaZulu 2-0 on Friday night, and winger Nkota bagged both goals. He could have also had more, but a brace will suffice for a youngster still finding his way in a team with plenty of good players.

SuperSport stumble

Kaizer Chiefs took a surprising 1-0 defeat at SuperSport on the weekend which gives them some uncomfortable thinking to do. Matsatsanta were bang out of form and smarting from a recent 4-0 defeat to Amakhosi in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 but Hunt’s men found a way to win courtesy of Tashreeq Matthews/ strike. Chiefs dominated the possession, enjoying 65% of the play and mustering 14 shots, but they couldn’t make it pay against a resolute SuperSport side. The league table doesn’t mean an awful lot right now but this result is a shot in the arm for the winners who climb above Chiefs, although they’ve played two more games.
