Kaizer Chiefs’ Gaston Sirino back in time for Carling Knockout showdown.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi plans to rely on Sirino as they face SuperSport United in the Round of 16 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium this Saturday at 20:00. Sirino, who suffered an injury in a controversial 2-1 loss against his former club Mamelodi Sundowns, brings vital experience to the squad as they aim for victory.

Nabi felt Sirino’s absence during the recent CUFA Cup win over Marumo Gallants, emphasising the player’s significance: “We felt the absence of Sirino in the last game. It shows the importance of that player within our team.” Although Sirino may not play the full 90 minutes, Nabi remains hopeful about utilising him effectively in the upcoming match.

Chiefs aim for Carling Knockout glory

Chiefs are determined to capture their first Carling Knockout Cup trophy since the 2010/2011 season, when they celebrated a commanding 3-0 victory over Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium. This long-awaited triumph has become a driving motivation for the team as they aim to reclaim their status as a powerhouse in South African football. In contrast, SuperSport United last secured a title in the 2014/2015 season under coach Gordon Igesund, highlighting the fierce rivalry between these clubs. Both teams enter this match with a strong desire to prove themselves, elevating the stakes and intensity of the competition.

New assistant coach Kaze joins the team

Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Cedric Kaze as the new assistant coach for Nasreddine Nabi, effectively filling the gap left by Fernando da Cruz. Nabi and Kaze bring a strong working relationship from their time together at Young Africans, where they successfully collaborated on various strategies. Kaze’s fluency in both French and English significantly enhances communication within the technical team, ensuring that everyone is aligned and focused on the club’s objectives. This strategic move aims to strengthen the Chiefs’ performance as they pursue their ambitions this season.

“Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Cedric Kaze as the new assistant coach,” the club confirmed, aiming to elevate performance this season.

Chiefs are preparing to face SuperSport United, the return of Sirino and the addition of Cedric Kaze signal a strong push for success in the Carling Knockout. Fans eagerly anticipate how these changes will impact their chances for glory.
