Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou could be loaned out during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old is still out due to injury and is yet to play a game this season. With Nasreddine Nabi at the helm, it looks less likely that Matlou will fit into his plans this season.
The likes of Njabulo Blom, Yusuf Maart, Mduduzi Chabalala, Edson Castillo and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have been preferred by Nabi so far. According to Soccer Laduma, the club are looking to offload their midfielder in the next transfer window.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder to leave in January, according to reports
“The club appears to be exploring options to loan Matlou to a team where he can stay fit and get regular playing time in the second half of the season,” an insider told the publication.
“Although he has resumed training after his knee surgery, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is in the coach’s plans for this season. To ensure he gets the opportunity to play, they are likely looking to loan him out.”
Potsane’s contract at Kaizer Chiefs runs until 2025 so it makes sense for the club to loan or sell him in January. The insider said that Nabi is satisfied with the current squad that he used in the first three matches.
“The club is believed to be searching for a team that needs him and is willing to agree to the loan terms and conditions. Given that his contract runs until June 2025, there is also a possibility that the loaning team could negotiate a permanent transfer.”
“The coach seems satisfied with nearly 99% of the squad he has started the season with. He is reportedly in need of just one winger and one striker, which he has been trying to bring in from outside. However, since those plans haven’t materialized. It appears that players currently injured or not playing, including George Matlou, are not part of his immediate plans,” the inside told Soccer Laduma.
Kaizer Chiefs are also looking to add more players during the January transfer period. Nabi did say that the club is looking to add more players this season.
