Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has sent a big message to his players after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
KAIZER CHIEFS 1-2 MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
Ranga Chivaviro grabbed an early lead before Sundowns replied with two goals from Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners to seal a 2-1 win.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi was not happy with his team’s response after the score changed to 2-1.
“I didn’t come with a new strategy, this is the DNA of Kaizer Chiefs, the DNA, maybe I awakened the slumber, it’s normal if you are a player in Kaizer Chiefs, you have a specific DNA, specific characteristics, personality, you dislike losing,” Nabi said via iDiski Times.
“You want to win everytime, you have a winning mentality, for that… after the goal of Sundowns we observes some players were down. The demons of last year came back after the goal of Sundowns.
“This mentality I don’t accept that, it’s possible to concede a goal but that mentality [that I saw] I don’t accept that. I don’t accept that. Yes, I don’t change much, because I am in my first step of strategy – it’s my first step.
“You think I’m happy about today? I am not happy really because I dislike losing. Maybe the performance is better than last season but this is Kaizer Chiefs, you don’t accept losing and be happy because you play a good second half?
“What is that? It’s unacceptable – if you want to seriously know what Kaizer Chiefs is? You don’t know? Sorry, you don’t have a place here, it’s clear,” Nabi concluded.
HAPPY WITH GASTON SIRINO
Gaston Sirino scored his first goal for Kaizer Chiefs against AmaZulu last week, resulting in a 3-1 win, and Nasreddine Nabi sounds pleased.
After ending his six-year career with Sundowns, the 33-year-old Uruguayan was signed by Amakhosi in July, thanks to 41 goals and 44 assists for Kabo Yellow.
With a superb assist in his first game against Marumo Gallants, and a classy goal against AmaZulu last night, coach Nabi believes Sirino is the example of players he wants at Kaizer Chiefs.
“He’s a great role model for them and he brings a lot of positive impact on the youngsters,” the tactician stated.
“It’s exactly the same kind of player I would like to get. If you remember I already said I didn’t want to have middle-class players. I want to have top quality players like Sirino,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor concluded.
FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS STAR ITUMELENG KHUNE JOINS SABC SPORT
Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has secured a new job while his future with Amakhosi remains uncertain.
SABC Sport have confirmed that the Amakhosi legend has joined the public broadcaster as an analyst.
“We will also be enhancing our coverage by strengthening the analysis team. This move will ensure that we provide insightful commentary and in-depth analysis for our viewers,” SABC Group CEO Nomsa Chabeli said, as quoted by the Hollywoodbets.
“The added new members to the team are Itumeleng Khune, Jabu Mahlangu as well and Coach Thabo Senong who will be joining our resident analysts Doctor Khumalo, Simphiwe Dludlu, and Hlompho Kekana in the studio.”
