Kaizer Chiefs are still hard at work, trying to sign a top level striker in the January transfer window.

Chiefs were believed to have made the signing of a striker a priority in the recently concluded transfer window.

Chiefs have been searching for a striker

In the end, the only attacking acquisition Chiefs ended up making was that of Gaston Sirino. The Uruguayan made the switch from Mamelodi Sundowns to Amakhosi as a free agent. Although he has been impressive and scored already for his new club, the veteran is far from a striker. Amakhosi missed out on at least four target men in the previous window. The likes of Lebo Mothiba, Fiston Mayele, Iqraam Rayners and Khanyisa Mayo were believed to be on the shortlist.

Mothiba was rumoured to have been spotted at Naturena, but nothing was confirmed. He has since been trying his luck in various countries abroad. Mayele was deemed indispensable by Pyramids FC. Rayners was believed to have been a big target for both Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Sundowns then beat both rivals to the signature of the Bafana Bafana striker after paying his release clause. When it comes to Mayo, the club matched the asking fee of Cape Town City, but were too late. The Gqeberha-born star was already too far along the line to back out of a move to Algeria.

So as it stands Ranga Chivaviro has assumed the role of central striker at Chiefs. His alternative is believed to be Ashley du Preez. Now according to The Citizen, Nabi has challenged club scouts to search the globe for a suitable and prolific striker!

Nabi asks scouts to find prolific marksman!

“Chiefs are still much in the hunt for a new striker. Some agents from the African continent have offered their players to the club, but coach [Nasreddine] Nabi is specific about the type of striker he wants for the club. That’s why Chiefs have widened their search for a striker to other parts of Africa and South America,”  said the source.
