Kaizer Chiefs have had a good start to life under their new coach Nasreddine Nabi winning three out of four.
Chiefs have only lost to Mamelodi Sundowns so far, in a game embroiled with controversy, but bounced back.
This through a convincing 4-0 win over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup. This game also served as the first for new assistant coach Cedric Kaze, who reunited Nabi. The Rwandan was a very important part of the Tunisian’s success at Yanga. He is now looking to prove his worth to Chiefs too, already making a suggestion for the January transfer window.
According to Soccer-Laduma, Kaze has suggested Chiefs challenge Sundowns for their top midfield target Feisal Salum. The Tanzanian international currently plays for Azam FC, in his country’s top flight. That is of course a league both Nabi and Kaze know very well, having conquered it three times.
Kaze recommends Salum to Chiefs?
“There could be more changes in the playing staff at Chiefs in January. You know the Tanzanian midfielder that Mamelodi Sundowns have been following, Feisal Salum? Kaizer are now after him. Actually the assistant coach Cedric Kaze is believed to have proposed him to the club as both him and Nabi know him from Yanga. He played under them before joining Azam and he feels there is a role he can play at the club hence his suggestion to the team. It’s just that at Chiefs for now, when they are ready they will approach Azam. But there is that talk at the club now about Feisal Salum,” said the source.
As it stands, Chiefs already have a healthy amount of depth in their midfield ranks. The captain Yusuf Maart seems to be the sure bet to start at the moment. It is expected that when loanee Njabulo Blom gets back to full fitness, he will be his partner. The likes of Edson Castillo and Samkelo Zwane have also provided solid performances for Amakhosi at points during the current season. It then remains to be seen how they would fit in Salum.
