Dortley is going to the top

Already capped twice by Bafana at age 22, Chiefs have landed one of the most talented defensive prospects in the country. They’ll be desperate they can keep him for a few years at least before Sundowns or foreign suitors come calling. This classy left-footer is going straight to the top and should be a fixture for club and country for a very long time. If he quickly forms an understanding with Inacio Miguel, Chiefs will be difficult to beat, especially with Blom doing the patrol work. Beyond the end of Blom’s loan spell, however, Chiefs will need a long-term plan outside of Edson Castillo and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Both were overlooked in the Betway Premiership opening win against Gallants.

Next five Chiefs matches

Meanwhile, Amakhosi will be eager to follow up on their win over Gallants as they look ahead to upcoming tests. The matchwinner on the opening day, teenager Mfundo Vilakazi, will be absent against SuperSport and potentially Sundowns because of his call-up to the South Africa U20 Men’s National team for the Cosafa Cup.
