There is more good news pertaining to the rumours around Zungu joining Kaizer Chiefs.

Zungu to Kaizer Chiefs recently received a huge boots, as reported on The South African.

Furthermore, now the rumored move has just gained more momentum.

ZUNGU TO CHIEFS LATEST UPDATE

So, last week Rhulani Mokwena’s Wydad reportedly rejected Zungu. This was seen as a major boost to Chiefs’ rumored linked to Zungu.

Amakhosi were initially linked with the former Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder. However, the deal seemed to have fallen through when he left to follow Mokwena. However, that deal has also not materialized and Zungu is set to return to SA, according to Goal.

Meanwhile, Chiefs are in need of an experienced defensive midfielder following Edson Castillo’s serious injury. Whilst, Amakhosi’s midfielder has been ruled out for 4-5 months.

Now, it is reported that Zungu’s name has come up in discussions at Chiefs.

“Coach Nabi does want experience in some cases and although Zungu’s name has come up, there’s nothing that points to Chiefs moving in for his signature at this point,” the report read on Phakaaati.

Furthermore, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder, Zungu, is a free agent. So, if Nabi sees Zungu is his plans then they will launch a bid for the PSL icon.

MOVE UNLIKELY DUE TO CURRENT AMAKHOSI SQUAD

However, despite all the rumours, the move is unlikely to take place.

This is because Nabi feels that he has enough cover in the midfield with his current squad.

“At the moment, it looks highly unlikely, because the coach feels that he has enough cover in that position but you never know if that will change,” the insider stated on the same publication.

Finally, neither Chiefs nor Zungu and his agent have opened any discussions over this move.

“I know the injury to (Edson) Castillo has started this talk of Zungu going to Chiefs or the club negotiating with him but there’s nothing at the moment. The club hasn’t opened talk with him or his agent,” he concluded.

Therefore, the move is unlikely to happen.
