with the 2024 Paris Olympic Games set to commence on July 26, the list of Maryland athletes competing is now nearly finalized. The Terps will showcase a mix of current and former talent as they face off against the world’s best in various events.

Leading the pack is current WNBA star Alyssa Thomas, representing Team USA in basketball. This will be Thomas’s first Olympic appearance, making her the first Terp to compete in Olympic basketball since Vicky Bullett in 1992.

Remarkably, four Maryland field hockey players have been selected for the USA Olympic team: Leah Crouse, Brooke DeBerdine, Emma DeBerdine, and Kelee Lepage. Additionally, Maryland alum Chioma Onyekwere will compete for Nigeria in the discus, while former Terp star Thea LaFond will represent Dominica in the triple jump.

Several coaches will also participate in the games. Track and field assistant Rudy Winkler will represent the USA in the Hammer Throw after securing second place at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Finally, the Terps’ track and field and cross country associate head coach, Danielle Siebert, will serve as the USA track and field women’s head manager in Paris this summer.
