The Las Vegas Raiders have expressed interest in Minnesota’s Tyler Nubin, the top cornerback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Nubin, a likely first-round pick, held official talks with Las Vegas on Wednesday at the NFL Combine. “Yes, I also met with them yesterday,” Nubin said Thursday. “Everything went very well. I think they’ve done a great job there, especially with coach Pierce and the way he was able to control the team in the middle of the season, which is tough on anyone, especially players coming to a new team. . in peak season.
“So it would be great because it was really great to see what they can do and what he was able to build on in the middle of the season.”
According to Nubin, the admiration was mutual. “I really liked their defensive coordinator and their offense and offensive defensive philosophy,” Nubin said. “They said they liked my offensive style of play, so I think I would fit in very well there.”
Raiders cornerbacks Marcus Epps and Trevon Mehlig have one year left on their contracts, making it critical that Las Vegas select a cornerback in this year’s draft. If the Raiders select Nubin, he will join a safety group led by Michigan , who coached defensive greats like Xavien Howard and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Nubin played in 55 games at the University of Minnesota, setting a program record with 13 interceptions and recording 207 total tackles. He was named first team All-Big Ten last season and was named an All-America award recipient by Sporting News.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan from April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders are currently ranked 13th overall.
