AC Milan has identified Leeds United’s £20 midfield wizard as perfect option to fill hole left by Franck Kessie

Tyler Adams of Leeds United is the top Moneyball data analytics option for AC Milan to fill the void left by Franck Kessie.

After 223 appearances for the Rossoneri, the Ivorian international left for Barcelona in the summer, and given that Milan chief Gerry Cardinale is a strong proponent of data-driven recruitment in sister club Toulouse, the same model could soon be used to identify potential deals in Milan.

Based on the AI algorithms of Driblab, Stats Perform, and the Wallabies computers, USMNT captain Adams is the top name on that list, based on his pressing and the fact that he recovers possession as his “daily mission.”

The RB Leipzig summer signing is currently out with a hamstring injury, but when healthy, he has started every Premier League game for the Whites this season and has never been substituted in 24 league appearances.

The only time he has been taken off in a Leeds United shirt has been for disciplinary reasons, as a result of his red card in the final minutes of a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham prior to the World Cup on November 12.

For £20 million, Adams was arguably the best signing of the season for the first few months, at least until Willy Gnonto broke into the first team and Max Wober arrived in January.

He has outperformed fellow midfielder Marc Roca, and while he still needs to improve in terms of shielding the back four, he has been a welcome addition to the squad.

The injury has come at a bad time for Javi Gracia, who is currently plotting the club’s escape from relegation danger, and has barely used the other man named as a key target if Cardinale implements the Moneyball approach at San Siro as well, with Luis Sinisterra named as a Rafael Leao replacement in the first part of the same study.
