BREAKING NEWS: Daniel Farke rule out whether Leeds United could still sell two key players as coach explain reasons

Daniel Farke revealed the two positions he still wants to add to his Leeds United squad on Wednesday but that could change depending on player exits.

Farke was speaking after Leeds’ second pre-season friendly of the summer in which his side ran out 4-1 winners over Hannover out in Germany.

It was another promising run out for Leeds as Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph (2) all got on the scoresheet, with both Brenden Aaronson and Jayden Bogle among those providing assists.

Dan James and Patrick Bamford were the only two absentees through injury, but both could be fine for the second friendly.

At this stage of pre-season it is always interesting to hear what Farke says post-match, and this time he had a decent update on transfers.

Farke makes Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto admission

Leeds’ squad is looking in a really good place right now, with Farke’s only real priorities coming in midfield and at full-back.

Though they have already signed Joe Rothwell, Leeds are looking to add another attack-minded number eight, while some back-up for one of the full-backs wouldn’t go amiss either.

However, Leeds may well have to enter the market again depending on what happens with the futures of both Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto.

The two Leeds stars are attracting interest from top-flight clubs and speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke admitted nothing can be ruled out, but is pleased with the application they have shown so far.

He said: “Yes, in football you can never rule out anything, so all is possible. For that I can’t give any guarantees as I am not a magician. I can just judge what I see and both are fully integrated, they are fun to be here, they work hard.

“Even today was a game the opponent tried to set some signs and the first target is always Summerville or Gnonto with many tackles. It showed maturity the way they handled it and how they kept going to bring themselves into good shape.

“So for that I just can judge what I see, I see hard work and commitment, great attitude and for that I am more than hopeful they chip in with top performances like last season.”

It has been claimed that the sale of one would not necessarily mean the other stays, and so Leeds are planning for the eventuality both go.

Thankfully, behind-the-scenes, Leeds are already in a place where they can move for targets as soon as one or both of them move on.

Leeds have identified the players they want, but of course, it would be unwise to move now in case there aren’t any clubs willing to meet the asking prices.

Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is among the wingers who have been linked with a switch to Elland Road.
