BREAKING NEWS: Leeds United permanent exit rolling on as reliable defender negotiations ongoing

Leeds United failing to gain promotion this season could hand a bargain transfer opportunity to Eintracht Frankfurt on Rasmus Kristensen, says Ben Jacobs.

The journalist told GiveMeSport on 2 November that the Danish defender has already convinced the German side he would be worth turning into a permanent signing despite currently being out injured during his loan spell.

But, despite valuing his presence on the pitch and in the dressing room, the Bundesliga club would like to seek a discount on the £12.6million option in his temporary deal if they push for the move.

Jacobs said: “Rasmus Kristensen has impressed Frankfurt both on and off the field and it’s a shame he’s picked up a muscle injury and will miss a few weeks.

“Kristensen has proven reliable, and Frankfurt also view him as a positive dressing-room influence. There is a chance they try to sign him permanently, but it’s likely if so they try to negotiate the €15m option to buy.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens. If Leeds don’t go up, Frankfurt might be able to do a bargain deal but it’s too early to tell right now.”

Rasmus Kristensen exit from Leeds United to Eintracht Frankfurt

Kristensen, 27, hasn’t featured for the Whites for close to a year and a half so a permanent exit would come as absolutely no surprise.

He is one of many former Victor Orta signings that ultimately didn’t pan out in the Premier League, but unlike a number of them has never featured in the Championship and proven his worth at a lower level.

If Daniel Farke’s men make it back to the top flight then it is likely the German would look to sign another option on top of Jayden Bogle rather than bring Kristensen back in, so their likeliest route to bagging the full fee is surely as a top flight side.

Should they fail to get promoted a second time then all bets are off, and it is quite likely a different manager would be making the decision.

Rasmus Kristensen

Leeds United loanee Rasmus Kristensen hasn’t played for the club in two seasons.
Brenden Aaronson’s return to the fold this term shows the door is rarely entirely closed, especially when there isn’t much cash for signings.

But the Denmark international has exited on loan twice rather than be part of a promotion push, despite not having a release clause in the previous window [Leeds Live, 10 July], so one way or another he has probably played his last for the club already.

However, if Frankfurt like him that much it would be frustrating if he they don’t want to pay the release clause that was negotiated, after Roma decided not to make his temporary move permanent last season as well.
