BREAKING NEWS: Leeds United set to lose five stars in ‘brutal’ late raid Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leeds United are in for a “brutal” summer with clubs set to wait until the “last minute” to get the best deals for their top stars.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Whites could lose “four or five” big players.

Leeds failed to gain promotion back to the Premier League last term and are widely expected to sell star men like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

Football Insider revealed last month (26 May) that the Whites must now recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales.

Daniel Farke’s side will kick off their quest for promotion at home against promoted Portsmouth on 10 August.

Wyness warned fans to brace for a “chaotic summer” at Elland Road.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Mass exodus would be an exaggeration, but certainly there could be four or five exits.

“It’s a big number and it will be a blow to the quality of the squad.

“We’ll have to watch Leeds very carefully.

“It’s going to be a tough window. I expect a lot of clubs to wait until the last minute, and that’s when a lot of pressure will be put on Leeds.

“These clubs know the numbers are difficult.

“This is when a chief executive and board members earn their crust, dealing with the players and their agents.

“It’s going to be brutal.

“I hope it happens in an orderly fashion and they get the offers they want, but I’ve got a funny feeling it could be a chaotic summer at Elland Road.”
