Stevie Nicol believes Tyler Adams of Leeds United ‘doesn’t push’ Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea back into the Champions League.
The Liverpool great admits that many teams require someone like Tyler Adams because he “leaves every bit of sweat, blood, and tears on the field.”
However, he questioned the all-round ability of the hard-hitting Leeds midfielder amid transfer rumors that Chelsea and others want to buy him this summer, according to ESPN.
At the moment, the 24-year-old is recuperating from injury, with Aston Villa and Chelsea vying for his services.
Not many players can hold their head up high after Leeds’ relegation last term, but Adams is one of very few who is probably immune from a verbal beating from the fans.
That’s why the Premier League’s elite are pushing to sign him, with Nicol sharing his doubts.
“He doesn’t push Chelsea into the top four,” said Nicol.
There is less than a month until the chaos of the summer transfer window hibernates till the winter.Leeds fans will be hoping that a number of their big guns, from Wilfried Gnonto to Adams himself, stay because if they do, their prospects of promotion improve dramatically.
You could argue that Adams is the most significant of the bunch because the £55k-a-week star (Spotrac) is at the heart of the action and has excellent leadership qualities.
