Brandon Williams, a target for Leeds United, is capable of playing at the ‘highest level,’ according to Daniel Farke.
Farke signed Williams earlier in his managerial career at Norwich City in 2021, praising his ‘potential’ and adaptability.
According to the Independent, Leeds are interested in signing Williams to a long-term contract this summer, with Manchester United willing to let him go.
Any deal, though, is likely to be contingent on Williams’ desire to play in the Championship, with Leeds keen to enhance their options at left-back before the transfer window closes on September 2.
Williams has made 47 Premier League games in his career but has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford in recent years due to Luke Shaw’s performances.
Farke only worked with Williams for nine Premier League games, but based on his words when a deal was finalized in the summer of 2021, he is clearly a huge supporter of the player.
“We’re really happy that we were able to bring Brandon in,” he stated. This is a wonderful deal for all parties, and we are grateful to Manchester United for the opportunity to work with Brandon.
“Brandon is a promising young player.” He has already demonstrated his ability to succeed at the highest level and that he is capable of playing for Manchester United. He possesses a wide range of abilities and attributes.
“We wanted to bring in someone who could play in the full-back positions to strengthen our squad.” Brandon has mostly played left-back for Manchester United, but we know he can also play on the right side.”
Leeds need to enhance their left-back options this summer, and suggestions linking the Whites with Williams make sense given Farke’s experience of the player.
At this point, it is unclear what sort of money Man United will demand for Williams, who has a year left on his contract with the option of a one-year extension.
Williams would bring plenty of top-flight experience to Leeds’ squad, and considering their previous term together, he wouldn’t take long to get to grips with Farke’s techniques, making him a good buy.
