Daniel Farke has shared an injury update on his Leeds United squad ahead of the clash with Queens Park Rangers this weekend.
Leeds face a short turnaround from Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Millwall with Farke revealing his players did not get to bed until around 3am Thursday morning.
Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Largie Ramazani were all absent at the Den and there is still some time until they will be back fit.
Joe Gelhardt was also missing from the squad, though that could have been down to a tactical decision as opposed to injury given the strength of Leeds’ bench.
Farke isn’t usually one for heavy rotation but a tough, physical match on a Wednesday night at Millwall may well see him make some changes.
Farke shares Leeds injury update ahead of QPR
Farke only made three substitutions at the Den and so the hope is everyone who came through 90 minutes did so without any issues.
Wilfried Gnonto, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell were the men brought off, and it doesn’t appear any of those changes were anything more than purely tactical.
That said, the likes of Gnonto, James and Joel Piroe were all a long way from their best and so it will be interesting to see if Farke looks to alter things.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke confirmed no major injury issues arose from the game, though some late decisions will need making on whether a couple of players can start.
He said: “Seems like most of the players came through without major injuries. Some knocks and tired legs as with every game. Quick turnaround. I spoke about being back in the early hours.
“Wait a little to see how they will recover over the 48 hours to be ready again. Some late decisions on mixing it up or not.”
Farke on Leeds’ preparation for QPR
Leeds won’t have much time on the training pitch at Thorp Arch ahead of QPR and so the majority of the work they will do between now and the game will be analysis.
Farke has revealed exactly how he goes about preparing for matches with such a short turnaround, saying it is important not to overload the players with too much information.
He said: “Experience is important. Don’t overload the players with too much information. Take our medicine and crack on.
“When you have so many games and quick turnarounds there’s a temptation to speak too much, to overanalyse. Tomorrow we spend lots of time in the meeting room. Important not to overload them today.”
