The victory over the Blades on Friday temporarily put Leeds United inside the top two, level on points with Sunderland who they really should have beaten before the international break but for an Illan Meslier blunder.
However, Burnley leapfrogged Leeds United over the weekend but Leeds can return in kind by dispatching a Watford side struggling to find their identity at the minute.
Going into Tuesday night’s clash, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke revealed a huge boost in the shape of Willy Gnonto’s fitness.
Is Willy Gnonto fit?
There were concerns that Willy Gnonto could miss the game against Watford this week after a shoulder injury caused problems for him in the early stages of the Yorkshire derby against Chris Wilder’s men. In fact, Farke nearly substituted Gnonto but in the end he stayed on as Leeds claimed a victory to end Sheffield United’s unbeaten run.
However, this didn’t stop concerns that he could miss the game against Watford, butt Farke has put those concerns to rest in a huge boost for the game against Watford.
Farke confirmed the news in his pre-match press conference saying he was “Very close” to bringing Gnonto off before elaborating:
“I brought Manor Solomon to the bench after 10 minutes and he got ready but Willy gave the sign he was okay. I was a nervous because sometimes you can keep going with the adrenaline but there’s a serious injury but we scanned it and thankfully it’s just a bruise so he’s available.”
He went on to add: “(There are) no big concerns, no one picked up an injury during the game. At this time of year sometimes players are struggling here and there with symptoms of a cold or whatever but nothing that should disturb us from bringing our best possible line-up onto the pitch.
“We have our players who are out for the longer term (Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Max Wober) but all the others are available.”
This news comes as Leeds are linked to a number of players including a Liverpool Ace which you can read about here.
