Due to Premier League interest, Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell is reportedly refusing to sign a new contract.
The 20-year-old is back at Elland Road after spending last season on loan at Millwall in the Championship. He played in the Whites’ most recent pre-season friendly against Monaco, although he is thought to be hesitant to commit his future to the club.
According to Last Word on Football, the reason for the holdout is due to interest from two Premier League clubs. Cresswell, a product of the Leeds academy, has shown lots of potential since signing his first professional contract with the club.
However, he did not play for Millwall for the entire season and was even linked with a permanent Elland Road exit in January. Losing Cresswell would appear to be a disaster for Leeds, who are rumored to be on the verge of loaning Max Wober to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Although the article claims top-flight interest, Cresswell has two years left on his contract, giving Leeds some influence over his future.
