Done Deal as £3.5m star man set to join Leeds United within few hours from now

Leeds United are close to signing AZ Alkmaar defender Pantelis Chatzidiakos, who has agreed to join the club.

Pantelis Chatzidiakos of AZ Alkmaar has accepted a transfer to Leeds United, but no money has been agreed upon.

According to a report from Sportime in Chatzidiakos’s home country of Greece, the defender has agreed to join Elland Road.

Leeds is said to have made a bid of roughly €2.5 million (£2.15 million) for Chatzidiakos.

AZ, on the other hand, wants a transaction of €3 million to €4 million (about £2.6 million to £3.5 million).

Leeds still have work to do, but Chatzidiakos appears to be eager to go to West Yorkshire.

According to the report, Chatzidiakos has been in talks with Leeds for more than two weeks in the hopes of striking a deal.

Leeds and Chatzidiakos have no issues, but the Whites may have to dig a little deeper to get their man.

Pantelis Chadzidiakos is a Leeds United target.

Chatzidiakos is from Rhodes, Greece, and began his career with Panathinaikos.

Chatzidiakos was signed by AZ at the age of 14 in 2011, and he has progressed through the club’s tiers ever since.

The 6ft 1in defender has already made over 200 appearances for AZ, scoring five goals and assisting on nine occasions.

While the majority of those games have been played as a centre back, Chatzidiakos has also played as a right back.

Daniel Farke, who is looking for defensive reinforcements after losing Robin Koch and Maximilian Wober this summer, may be drawn to his versatility.

Chatzidiakos has 27 caps for Greece but began his career as a Netherlands youth international before moving to his natal country.

Last season, Chatzidiakos helped AZ reach the Europa Conference League semi-finals and was chosen to the Eredivisie Team of the Month twice.

With Chatzidiakos’ contract expiring next summer, Leeds are keen to give the 26-year-old an opportunity in English football.
