While Sam Greenwood is impressing out on loan at Preston North End and scored his fourth goal of the season on Saturday, it is not going quite as well for another Leeds United player out on loan.
Greenwood notched his fourth goal for loan side Preston, while Rasmus Kristensen is impressing out on loan at Frankfurt. Luca Thomas scored on debut for York, and Cian Coleman got a brace for Buxton.
Leeds have a number of others players out on loan, with Joe Richards the latest to leave on a temporary basis. Sonny Perkins is at Leyton Orient, while Darko Gyabi is with next weekend’s opponents Plymouth.
But for Jack Harrison, things are not going to plan. It is almost nine months since Harrison scored for Everton and on Saturday afternoon, the winger struggled again for Sean Dyche’s side despite starting.
Everton fans have their say on Leeds loanee Jack Harrison
It was not long ago that Harrison was included in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary squad to go to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. This is now his second loan at Everton, but has failed to score for a while.
On Saturday, Everton drew 1-1 with Fulham but Harrison struggled and was withdrawn before the hour mark and replaced by another new Everton signing in Jesper Lindstrom. Everton fans were not impressed.
One fan went as far as saying Harrison was “just a body” and Dyche and the Everton recruitment team needed to replace him in January. Another questioned selling Alex Iwobi to replace him with Harrison.
Plenty more continued to discuss Harrison’s performance. One fan said that Harrison “offered nothing” during the game, while one supporter said Harrison was subbed off “67 minutes too late”.
Jack Harrison’s stats during Everton clash against Fulham
It was Iwobi that typically opened the scoring against his old side, scoring on 61 minutes before Beto came off the bench to score for The Toffees in the 94th minute and rescue a point for Harrison’s team.
Jack Harrison stats for Everton against Fulham:
- 0.06XG, 1 shots, 0 shots on target
- 0 successful dribbles, two attempted
- Just 12 passes attempted, only seven successful
- Just two defensive actions, 0/1 tackles
- One successful duel, five duels lost
Leeds might be hoping that Everton are willing to sign Harrison permanently. Certainly, Graham Smyth has said Harrison will never play for Leeds again despite having a contract at Elland Road until 2028.
But if he continues to play for Everton in this form, the chances of Leeds managing to sell the winger look small. Indeed, it could be that Harrison returns to Leeds and his agent will be tasked with finding a club.
