Leeds United have had to prepare for a return to the Championship after being relegated on the final day of last season.
The Whites will seek to return to the Premier League as soon as possible next summer. It is, however, easier said than done.
The Championship is a punishing 46-game marathon in which the margins for error are razor thin throughout the course of the season.
Leeds have lost a number of players this summer, and Tyler Adams’ future at Elland Road is questionable.
This summer, the 20-year-old has been connected with a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and West Ham.
According to sources, Adams has a £20 million relegation release clause, making him a viable option for the aforementioned clubs.
However, according to talkSPORT writer Alex Crook, “the indications” from Adams suggest that he is willing to continue at Leeds.
Although he believes the Whites will struggle, he does not believe he will leave Elland Road this summer.
“I think they’ll struggle to keep him,” he told GiveMeSport. “But I believe his indications are that he is willing to stay and assist them in getting back on their feet.”
“I think they’ve got a chance to go back up if they keep Adams, Harrison, and Gnonto and get Patrick Bamford back in shape.”
“However, Leicester and probably Southampton, despite the fact that they need a striker, are in a slightly stronger position in terms of bouncing straight back.”
If Adams stays at Leeds for the upcoming season, it will be a tremendous boost for the Elland Road club.
The 24-year-old is a ‘formidable’ world-class player and international captain who has established himself at the top level, including the World Cup.
Furthermore, if the £20 million clause claims are genuine, he’ll undoubtedly be courted by a slew of clubs.
Let’s wait and see what occurs in the next weeks.
Adams has a good chance of becoming a Leeds legend if he stays and helps them out at the first opportunity.
