According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma are’set to sign’ Rasmus Kristensen on loan from Leeds United.
Kristensen, 25, joined Leeds United from RB Salzburg last summer for a reputed fee of £10 million. Kristensen signed a five-year contract with the Whites, but following their relegation from the Premier League, it appears that he will now leave on loan.
Kristensen is expected to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma, according to Romano this morning. Romano claims that a ‘contract is in place’ for Kristensen to join Roma on loan until next summer, following in the footsteps of Diego Llorente, who joined Roma on loan earlier this month.
Last season, Kristensen featured 26 times in the Premier, scoring three goals. He now has 255 career appearances to his name as he’s scored an impressive 27 goals from right-back, racking up 45 assists along the way too.
Kristensen to Roma
It’s not uncommon for players to leave on loan for a season when their club are relegated from the Premier League.
But Kristensen, Llorente and those leaving on loan will hope that Leeds can bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, or they’ll be in a tricky situation this time next year.
They plainly do not want to play in the Premier League, and if Leeds do not gain promotion, they may be obliged to move players like Kristensen on a permanent basis.
For the time being, Kristensen has an exciting season in Serie A to look forward to, while Leeds face a challenging Championship campaign, with new manager Daniel Farke having plenty of work to do before their season opening against Cardiff City on August 6th.
Later today, Leeds will play Manchester United in a pre-season friendly.
