Fans in tear as Leeds £18m machine set to leave club this week

According to journalist Dean Jones, Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has opted to depart Elland Road this summer.

Jones spoke with GiveMeSport and provided an update on Gnonto’s future amid Premier League interest.

Gnonto made an impression in his first season in England after joining Leeds last summer.

The Whites signed the Italian teenager from FC Zurich for just £3.8 million, and despite Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League, he’s really struck the eye.

Indeed, Gnonto is attracting interest from the likes of Everton and Aston Villa due to his displays last season.

And Jones claims that Gnonto is keen to seek out a fresh challenge already this summer.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones shared an update on the futures of Tyler Adams and Gnonto.

“At the moment, it’s not impossible they both stay, but we will have to see if that remains the case as we get towards the start of the season and other clubs realise these two are still up for grabs,” the journalist said.

“I hear that Gnonto wants to leave, I think he’ll get a bit restless if he’s playing in the Championship when it kicks off. So, let’s see how it all develops.”

Leeds is apparently seeking at least £18 million in order to consider selling Gnonto this summer.

After some eye-catching performances for Leeds last season, the 19-year-old is also garnering considerable interest from a number of Serie A clubs.

Of course, Daniel Farke will be eager to keep Gnonto as he builds a team capable of regaining promotion to the Premier League.

If Gnonto stays at Leeds for at least another season, it could help his growth. The kid will have the potential to become a regular fixture in Farke’s squad, which will undoubtedly be preferable to playing restricted minutes for a Premier League club.
