What Frankfurt’s director has just said about Rasmus Kristensen is music to the ears of Leeds United

Rasmus Kristensen’s decision to leave Leeds United on loan for a second time ended any chance of him returning to Elland Road ever again.

Kristensen was in a similar situation to both Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober in the summer due in that the opportunity was there for him to give it a go in the Championship.

Aaronson made his decision to return to Leeds very quickly, while Wober did not kick up too much of a fuss after Borussia Monchengladbach’s financial inability to sign him permanently.

However, Kristensen instead opted for a temporary switch to Eintracht Frankfurt, with Leeds’ short and sharp statement announcing his exit appearing as though it has burnt any remaining bridges between him and the club.

As such, Leeds will be praying Kristensen has a much better season at in Germany than he did at AS Roma so someone can come and take him permanently next summer.

Leeds will be joyed by Frankfurt director’s Kristensen comments

Kristensen has played all four matches for Frankfurt in all competitions so far and in each of them, completed the full 90 minutes.

On his debut, it was claimed there is room for improvement for Kristensen despite a 4-1 win, before he was then turned inside out for one of Borussia Dortmund’s goals in a 2-0 defeat in their first league match.

Since that defeat at Dortmund, Frankfurt have won two consecutive matches in which Kristensen has played at right-wing-back, as opposed to the right side of a back four.

As a result of that, Kristensen has been heavily praised by Frankfurt director Timmo Hardung, who hailed him as a ‘high quality’ player due to his versatility.

Even though there may be fans out there who want to see Kristensen fail, hearing one of Frankfurt’s key figures praise him publicly should be music to the ears of Leeds.

If he can continue to impress, it may prompt Frankfurt into signing Kristensen permanently, meaning Leeds can finally get a player who does not want to be at the club, off the books for good.

Do Frankfurt have an option to buy Kristensen from Leeds?

Alongside Jack Harrison, Kristensen was one of two first team players with a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave on loan for a second time.

Everton do not have a future purchase option in the deal for Harrison but that is not actually the case when it comes to Kristensen.

As part of the agreement, Leeds will not receive a single penny from Frankfurt for the 27-year-old, but there is an option-to-buy him permanently next summer.

If Kristensen can continue to impress then hopefully Frankfurt make use of that, which in hindsight should definitely have been an obligation rather than option.
