Gary Rowett thinks Leeds United player that Daniel Farke called ‘crucial’ is frustrated at Elland Road at the moment

Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Millwall on Wednesday night as Daniel Farke’s side had no answers for Neil Harris’ tactics after the Lions had taken the lead on 40 minutes.

Leeds came into the game sitting in third place, losing only once all season in the Championship and unbeaten. The Whites were two points better off than 2019-20 after 13 games under Marcelo Bielsa.

Millwall though, are in excellent form. Three consecutive 1-0 wins including a win over Burnley on the weekend promised Leeds would be in for a tough, physical test on Wednesday against Harris’ men.

It proved to be that way. Leeds started well but as soon as Japhet Tanganga scored on 40 minutes, it was only going to go one way. Leeds fans have seen it all before, unable to find an equaliser under Farke.

Gary Rowett says Leeds player will be feeling very “frustrated”

On many occasions last season, Leeds would go 1-0 down away from home in a midweek game and fail to break down an opposing defence. One of those defeats was at Stoke City last season, losing 1-0.

Patrick Bamford missed a penalty in that game, and Stoke scored a winner. The one-time England man got a few minutes on Wednesday, only his sixth outing and Gary Rowett thinks he will be frustrated.

“He’s hardly played, I bet he’s utterly frustrated at the moment at Leeds. He’s got five or six players ahead of him,” Rowett told Sky Sports during his role as co-commentator as Bamford came on for the final 10.

Could Patrick Bamford leave Leeds in January window?

Bamford says he wanted to leave Leeds in the summer of 2023, after the club were relegated. Fans had parked themselves outside of his house after his missed penalty against Newcastle, ending in a 2-2 draw.

Carlton Palmer has urged Leeds to sell him in January because he is not earning his wage, but Daniel Farke replied in a press conference by describing Bamford as “crucial” but his long-term future is a doubt.

It is now November and Bamford remains third choice. He has got to look at his situation and realise that he is not going to get a look in again at Leeds, and he needs to go out on loan in the winter window.
