Leeds change their minds about winger and will let him go for free

According to the Daily Record, Leeds United winger Stuart McKinstry is expected to leave Elland Road on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, with clubs from England and Scotland keen.

The 20-year-old winger has spent the last season on loan at his boyhood club, Motherwell. However, his contract with Leeds expires in the summer, and his future is uncertain. The Sun reported in November that Leeds intended to extend his stay.

However, after struggling in the second part of the season and scoring just four goals in 24 games, Leeds appear to have altered their minds. According to the most recent reports, Leeds are willing to allow the Scotland U21 player depart on free.

According to the source, a number of Scottish and English clubs are interested in signing McKinstry before his contract expires. Scottish clubs can approach him now on a pre-contract basis, while English clubs can do so starting June 1.

The correct decision. While McKinstry is a talented player who made his Premier League debut against Tottenham and then in the FA Cup against Fulham, he has little chance of getting in on a regular basis.

Even if the Whites fail, the club still has plenty of options on the sides. McKinstry has yet to demonstrate that he is even of Championship caliber when north of the border. There is interest, but it is unlikely to come from the second tier.

North may have a few of Premiership clubs interested in him. But it’s unclear whether one of them will be Motherwell. He has to find a new club where he can play consistently and start converting his potential into quality.
