Leeds pursuit of a £15 million attacker has taken an unexpected turn in club

According to Wales Online, Joel Piroe is poised to stay at Swansea City this summer despite interest from Leeds United, Southampton, Leicester, and Atalanta – and even though his contract at Swansea expires next summer.

Piroe joined Swansea from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2021 and has since played for the Welsh club. The 23-year-old has 44 goals in 92 games for Swansea since his arrival. It’s no surprise that a number of teams are interested in the striker.

However, Wales Online provides an update. Leeds, Atalanta, Leicester, and Southampton are all interested in Piroe, who is valued at £15 million by Swansea. Swansea, on the other hand, are unwilling to organize a deal that suits Piroe’s camp.

Because of the Swansea board’s obstinacy, Piroe is now likely to miss out on a move, interested teams such as Leeds do not get their man – and Swansea lose one of their most precious assets for free in the next 12 months.

Piroe has stated that he has ‘no intention’ of signing an extension or extending his contract beyond June 2024. Swansea’s £15 million price tag, combined with their desire to structure a trade in a specific way, appears to be a deal stumbling block. They might still take a bid.

Joel Piroe is poised to stay at Swansea despite interest from Leeds.

Piroe would be an excellent signing, especially with Patrick Bamford suffering a hamstring injury and Georginio Rutter struggling in the win over Hearts. It’s possible that Mateo Joseph or Joe Gelhardt will be our opener.

Bringing in Piroe would allow Rutter to play out wide, as Daniel Farke intended, and would likely give Leeds more room to cash in on Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison. However, it appears such a move has come to a halt.
