Daniel Farke almost pleaded with The 49ers to consider signing a no.10 in the final hours of the transfer window, but nothing materialised leaving Leeds United light in attacking midfield.
The Whites lost Georginio Rutter to Brighton for a £40m fee and it has left the Yorkshire club light in the 10 role. Joel Piroe has struggled in that role, with many criticising his display during the West Brom draw.
Brenden Aaronson has returned and he remains Leeds‘ top scorer this season with two goals. But there are still doubts regarding the USA star’s physicality and he is the club’s only natural option as a no.10.
While the transfer window has slammed shut, there is still the possibility of adding to the squad if Leeds re-enter the market for a free agent. There are options out there, not currently contracted to the club.
Leeds should make ambitious Dele Alli move after Everton exit
The 28-year-old of course, was one of England and indeed, the world’s best players when he broke onto the scene with Tottenham and the Three Lions. Arguably, the best young midfielder in world football.
But it is well-known as to why Dele has struggled in recent years, with injury preventing the 28-year-old from featuring much for Sean Dyche’s Everton last season. But now, Dele is fit and raring to go.
There have been rumours that Everton could re-sign Dele, while French side Lille have also been linked. But if Leeds want a player capable of magic, able to create something out of nothing, why not Dele?
Leeds need a no.10 and Dele should be tempted at career lifeline
While the England star will know he is a Premier League player, the chances of any Premier League club actually taking a chance on the former MK Dons man is unlikely at this stage and he will know that.
If he wants to remain in English football and join a club that dominate possession, scoring goals and playing attacking football then where better than a move to the favourites to win the Championship?
After failed moves for Roland Sallai and Gustavo Hamer in the summer, Leeds still require a no.10 and having Dele at Elland Road might just be the difference between promotion and the play-offs again.
