Leeds United applauded for recent Daniel Farke decision at Elland Road

Darren Bent has applauded Leeds United for their decision to stand by Daniel Farke after a difficult start to the Championship season.

The Whites head into the September international break unbeaten in the Championship, but there were calls for Farke to be sacked earlier in the campaign after Leeds were thrashed by Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup.

Despite some appeals for change from both supporters and pundits, the Whites opted to keep the German in the dugout and talkSPORT pundit Bent believes that could help them win promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (2 September, 16:40) he said: “Well he’s done it before where a fanbase hasn’t been keen on him and all of a sudden he’s put an unbelievable run together and they’ve got promoted.

“I like that they’ve given him a little bit more time, I mean they battered Hull 2-0 and it probably should have been more at the weekend.

“But fair play to them, they got off to a slow start, but you’re starting to see signs now of them getting a bit more momentum.”

Will Daniel Farke exit Elland Road amid Leeds United sack rumours?

It’s amazing how quickly things can change in the world of football. Only a matter of weeks ago there were suggestions that Farke wasn’t equipped to win promotion with this squad, but now no one is doubting his credentials.

The German has been helped by a late flurry of business at Leeds United to bolster his ranks. The arrivals of the likes of Manor Solomon, Largie Ramazani and Ao Tanaka have certainly added a new dimension to the squad.

But Farke himself deserves his flowers for getting a consistent tune out of this squad over the last few weeks. The football may not have been quite as entertaining as it was last season, but it has arguably been just as effective.

Hopefully, Farke will be able to get the Whites over the line this time around after last season’s disappointing playoff final defeat.

There is still plenty of football to be played this term and the German will ultimately be judged when May rolls around again.
