This weekend, Leeds United will complete the transfer of Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
That is according to Sky Sports journalist Tim Thornton, who claims Darlow will sign a three-year contract with the Whites.
Darlow is thought to have had his medical yesterday and was also spotted at Elland Road yesterday as he finalizes his move from Newcastle.
Leeds will be hoping to announce his deal in time for tomorrow’s friendly against Hearts, the penultimate pre-season fixture before the Championship opening against Cardiff City next weekend.
Darlow’s first opportunity to play alongside his new teammates will be in Edinburgh, where he will compete for the number one spot with Illan Meslier.
Leeds are anticipated to spend just £400,000 for Darlow’s signature, which is considered a good deal for a goalkeeper of his caliber in the Championship.
Darlow will offer a wealth of experience to Leeds’ team, having played over 200 games in England’s top two divisions during his career.
Darlow was identified as Leeds’ main goalkeeper target early in the transfer window, and it appears that they will finally get their man.
Following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £7 million plus add-ons, the 32-year-old will become Leeds’ second acquisition of the summer.
However, he is not anticipated to be the last, with Daniel Farke saying following the win over Nottingham Forest that there is still more work to be done.
