Leeds United back to rush on three premier League stars after relegation result

Given the lack of a director of football to make these alleged agreements happen, it’s difficult to get too enthused about Leeds’ transfer links at the moment.

However, with relegation seeming increasingly certain this weekend, ties to some familiar Elland Road names have already begun to emerge.

Three players cannot go through a single transfer window without being linked with a move to West Yorkshire.

According to TEAMtalk, the first of these is Rangers winger Ryan Kent, who is expected to depart Ibrox when his contract expires in the coming weeks, while the same site also reports of Leeds’ persistent interest in signing Southampton striker Che Adams.

Leeds made three approaches for the Saints striker in January 2020 as they sought further firepower to achieve promotion, and the two clubs have been linked ever since.

According to Ben Jacobs, the third name in the gossip mill is Wolves’ Adama Traore, who is out of contract in the summer and is expected to leave Molineux.

Should Leeds consider any of these three?

The short answer is that Leeds should avoid these three names at all costs, even if they have shown in flashes that they can be good players.

None of these three have had very successful seasons, and while they may represent good value for money, there are considerably better and younger options available than two 26-year-olds and a 27-year-old.

When you consider the aforementioned lack of a football director, you have to take these links with a grain of salt.

Orta worked with Marcelo Bielsa to develop interest in these three players in previous window, seeking Kent before he moved to Rangers, wanting Adams in 2020, and it presumably arises from Orta’s Middlesbrough connection to Traore.

As we await the appointment of a new director, these three players are unlikely to be considered by the club.
