Leeds United battle Rangers, Bournemouth in race to sign electrifying defender

Rangers have reportedly made a bid for Leeds United and Bournemouth target Bright Osayi-Samuel, who is currently playing for Fenerbahce.

According to Sporx, the SPFL club has taken the initial move toward signing the Nigeria international, but the Turkish club has yet to respond.

Leeds have been in contact with his agency, according to Turkish media site Aspor [28 May], and the 25-year-old will cost £8.7 million this summer.

The Gers appear to be quite interested in signing the right-back/right winger this summer, although it’s unclear how much they’ve offered.

Despite being in the Championship, Leeds can equal the top two SPFL clubs in terms of transfer money, and if they are interested in the Nigerian, they can sign him before Rangers.

However, rumours that they are in talks with the 25-year-old’s agency are intriguing, as no one has officially taken up Victor Orta’s role.

The former sporting director was fired shortly before Javi Gracia was fired and has yet to be replaced.

With everything going on with the takeover, Leeds may not be able to sign anyone until that is resolved.

Having said that, Osayi-Samuel is a solid alternative, particularly in the Championship, but Leeds do not require another player in the aforementioned positions at the moment.
