Leeds United beat three clubs in race to sign Anderlecht speed winger this summer

Anderlecht, according to Belgian site Voetbal Nieuws, may have to sell a number of players this summer, including winger Francis Amuzu, after failing to qualify for European competition, with Leeds one of three clubs connected with a move.

Amuzu, 23, has been a staple in Anderlecht’s lineup for several years. With over 200 appearances under his belt, the Ghana-born Belgium U21 regular has assisted on 48 goals. It’s hardly surprising that people are interested in him.

According to Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen, Leeds are among the clubs considering a transfer for Amuzu. However, newly promoted Premier League side Luton Town and French club OGC Nice are also in the mix. He is under contract until 2025.

According to the current rumor, Amuzu is expected to be a player sold by Anderlecht this summer due to the club’s failure to qualify for European competition. Anderlecht finished 11th out of 18 clubs in the Jupiler League.

Leeds does have a variety of possibilities. There are now seven first-team options on the roster. Helder Costa, Ian Poveda, and Dan James return after loan periods, while Jack Harrison, Willy Gnonto, Cree Summerville, and Luis Sinisterra remain.

Harrison and Gnonto, on the other hand, are almost certain to leave. Summerville and Sinisterra appear to be viable options, with the former serving as a no.10 versus Hearts. Poveda and James appear to be staying as well.

Poveda has been the standout performer in pre-season, and he will almost certainly remain at Elland Road as a periphery player. So, do we really require another winger? You may argue that, considering Poveda’s better form, it’s unlikely. Amuzu, on the other hand, is gifted.
