Leeds United are set to target a new full-back in the coming weeks, and the latest buzz is around a “dynamic” Premier League left-back. With only three senior full-backs currently available and the new season fast approaching, manager Daniel Farke is eager to bolster his defensive options.
Right now, Sam Byram can play on either side, with Jayden Bogle slated as the primary right-back and Junior Firpo on the left. However, given that Byram is right-footed, Leeds are keen to secure a new left-back.
One promising name on the radar is Anselmo MacNulty, a Spain-born left-back currently with PEC Zwolle. Yet, another intriguing option is emerging: Hugo Bueno from Wolves. According to Dave Azzopardi of Talking Wolves, Leeds are interested in a loan deal for the 21-year-old Bueno, though Celtic and Feyenoord are also vying for his services. Azzopardi noted that the deal would likely be a straight loan with no purchase option.
Bueno, who made 25 appearances for Wolves last season, is not seen as an essential player at Molineux, which could open the door for Leeds to make a move. Despite interest from various European and English clubs, including Celtic and Feyenoord, Leeds could make a strong case if Wolves are willing to let Bueno go on loan.
In other news, Leeds fans have shown mixed reactions to recent developments. Both Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson, who were among eight players sent out on loan following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship, received some boos during their recent appearances. While Aaronson had confirmed his return early in the summer, Wober’s future was more uncertain, with his involvement in Euro 2024 leaving his status up in the air. Both players now face the challenge of winning back the support of Leeds fans through their performances on the pitch.
