Leeds United are looking to bolster their forward department before the start of the new Championship season.
Crysencio Summerville, who was arguably Leeds’ best player last season, has left the club to join West Ham.
While Daniel Farke does have enough attacking options, another signing is required.
Leeds are also in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. He will be allowed to leave Selhurst Park on loan, but there is loads of competition for his signature.
The Telegraph claimed that Leeds will lodge a formal bid of around £7 million for Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe who is seen as a replacement for Summerville.
According to a fresh report from Pink Un, Norwich could be tempted to sell Rowe if the price is right.
The Canaries have sold Gabriel Sara for around £23 million and they could be tempted to sell Rowe as well. The Whites have made contact to sign the 21-year-old winger already, but there is a big valuation difference between the two clubs at the moment.
Put simply, Norwich City will not accept a fee of £7 million, and Leeds will have to pay higher.
Jonathan Rowe would add goals – perfect replacement for Crysencio Summerville
Summerville was heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road throughout the summer, and it was expected that he would leave the club at some point.
Leeds have money to spend and they should do everything to sign a proper replacement.
Rowe enjoyed a fantastic 2023-24 season, scoring 13 goals and three assists, despite missing 11 games last season through injuries. Therefore, he can be expected to match Summerville’s numbers if he makes the move.
The winger has one year left on his contract, but Norwich have the option for a further year. Leeds admire him but they will have to improve their offer to sign him.
