Leeds United finally made a potential move to sign €25m Premier League goal machine

Leeds United are allegedly interested in signing Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan.

The Whites and Daniel Farke are preparing for Sunday’s Championship opener at Elland Road against Cardiff City.

A number of senior players have already left the club on loan, while Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow have joined from Chelsea and Newcastle United, respectively.

Additional arrivals before Sunday are regarded to be improbable, although the club is actively chasing targets, one of which is at center-back.

Harwood-Bellis has recently been linked with a move to Yorkshire, and it appears that 49ers Enterprises and interim football advisor Nick Hammond have made a first move for the kid.

In the previous 48 hours, LeedsLive released a transfer update on Harwood-Bellis and a possible move to Elland Road. They believe that the Etihad would prefer a permanent £15 million exit for the defender, with Everton and West Ham identified as potential Premier League destinations.

However, no significant progress has been achieved, and it is believed that ‘Hammond and Gary Penrice, a scout who formerly worked with Hammond at Celtic, are said to have submitted exploratory queries with the player’s representation.

It would not be surprising if City opted to offer Harwood-Bellis a new contract to ‘guard his worth in the short term and perhaps suit a loan exit with an obligation to buy at the end of it,’ according to the report.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis is a person.

Harwood-Bellis is a pure centre-back who came through Man City’s youth and made eight senior appearances under Pep Guardiola.

The 21-year-old has had loan periods at Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, and Burnley, with two of those seeing him work under Vincent Kompany, who praised the player’s attitude at Turf Moor last season.

“I believe Taylor did precisely what I expected him to do. Taylor has been a friend of mine since he was a very young footballer, before he was even a first-team player, and his one remarkable quality is his attitude.

“He has an outstanding attitude and the habits of a high-level professional.” Everyone can see his level. I played with him in Anderlecht, and he’s a better player now.

“Given another year or two, the player he is now will be a much-improved player again because he has the right attitude.”

Harwood-Bellis was also recognized as a great “leader” by England U21s coach Lee Carsley. He went on to captain England to the Euro U21 title this summer and appears to be on the rise, with a career-high €25 million Transfermarkt valuation.

He won the second tier with Burnley last season, so he may be the ideal addition with Charlie Cresswell, Liam Cooper, and Pascal Struijk, providing Farke with a balance of two right-footed and two left-footed central defenders. A transaction could be complicated due of Premier League interest, but the move appears to be one to monitor.
