Harwood-Bellis is a pure centre-back who came through Man City’s youth and made eight senior appearances under Pep Guardiola.
The 21-year-old has had loan periods at Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, and Burnley, with two of those seeing him work under Vincent Kompany, who praised the player’s attitude at Turf Moor last season.
“I believe Taylor did precisely what I expected him to do. Taylor has been a friend of mine since he was a very young footballer, before he was even a first-team player, and his one remarkable quality is his attitude.
“He has an outstanding attitude and the habits of a high-level professional.” Everyone can see his level. I played with him in Anderlecht, and he’s a better player now.
“Given another year or two, the player he is now will be a much-improved player again because he has the right attitude.”
Harwood-Bellis was also recognized as a great “leader” by England U21s coach Lee Carsley. He went on to captain England to the Euro U21 title this summer and appears to be on the rise, with a career-high €25 million Transfermarkt valuation.
He won the second tier with Burnley last season, so he may be the ideal addition with Charlie Cresswell, Liam Cooper, and Pascal Struijk, providing Farke with a balance of two right-footed and two left-footed central defenders. A transaction could be complicated due of Premier League interest, but the move appears to be one to monitor.
