Leeds United have received a transfer boost in their pursuit of Hirving Lozano, who desires to stay in Europe.
The Spanish news outlet stated on July 31 that the previous story of Lozano having reached a deal with MLS team LAFC [W Deportes, 27 July] was merely a rumour and that the player intends to stay in Europe.
According to reports, Lozano’s destiny is in his own hands, with an offer from LA Galaxy now on the table, though he will wait for an official offer from a European club before making a decision, leaving the door open for Leeds to swoop.
Lozano would be an excellent addition to Daniel Farke’s team at Elland Road, having played a key role in Napoli’s Serie A title last season, making 32 league appearances for the Italian club.
The source that linked Leeds with a bid for Lozano also mentioned moves for Premier League rivals Newcastle and Everton, demonstrating the Mexican’s high regard.
Bringing a major championship winner to the Championship would be a great boost for a Leeds club that seems to be losing key players all the time. Lozano would be a more than competent substitute, especially if Willy Gnonto leaves, as has been widely speculated.
Leeds are currently well-stocked out wide, but Gnonto, Crycensio Summerville and Jack Harrison have all been linked with moves away from Elland Road this season.
The Mexican international, who has participated in two World Cups and has been linked to Manchester United as recently as 2022 [The Sun], is still only 27 years old and capable of provide numerous years of high-level service to whichever team he joins.
