Leeds United forward could be set for exit
Leeds United have a number of top forwards at the club but according to a new development, one man could be set for a departure.
An exciting player in the shape of Sam Greenwood left Leeds on loan at the start of the 2024/25 season for Preston North End.
“Leeds United can confirm Sam Greenwood has joined fellow Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End, on a loan deal until the end of the season.
“Greenwood joined the Whites in 2021 and has played 35 times for the first team, across all competitions.
“In the 2023/24 campaign, the 22-year-old signed for Middlesbrough on loan for the season and played 38 times with the North East outfit.
“Now making a temporary switch to Deepdale, everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Sam the best of luck during his time away from the club and we look forward to seeing his development.”

Leeds United forward opens up on his future
When he joined Preston, Greenwood expressed his delight at the move, he said:
“I think it’s perfect timing really so I can get a pre-season under my belt. Last season when I went to Middlesbrough I couldn’t get that in because I was injured in pre-season. I think it’s really important that I can get a good connection with the boys for when the season comes and be ready to go.
“When I knew that Ryan (Lowe, Preston boss) wanted me, I believe he’s a manager that can get the best out of me. I know how good he is, a young up-and-coming manager, so it gives me confidence to play under him.
“I was doing some training out in Spain (last summer), with a coach who’s one of his friends. He came along to watch and saw some of my finishing – that’s why he must’ve wanted to sign me! It’s really important. It shows he believes in me and I’m sure he’s followed me since then. I can’t wait to play for him.”
Now though, speaking to Leeds Live, he has expressed his questions over the future, hinting at a future permanent exit:
“If I went back there (Leeds), it depends if I get those opportunities from the manager. As I say, I haven’t really thought about it yet. I have just got to see what happens and focus on the present.
“All the lads are brilliant and the manager is top, so yeah, I am loving it,” he told the Lancashire Post. “It is a good group and we are all really close. We have banter every day, play games and stuff, so yeah, I love it.”
