Leeds United have received a major boost for their match against Crystal Palace after Wilfried Zaha and Vicente Guaita were ruled out due to injury.
The Whites moved out of the relegation zone with a win over Nottingham Forest in midweek, and now face fellow relegation rivals Palace at Elland Road to keep their momentum going.
And now they’ve received a major boost with the news that key player Zaha will miss the game due to a groin injury, while first-choice goalkeeper Guaita has also suffered a setback in his recovery and will also miss the game.
“Roy Hodgson says Vicente Guaita (calf) and Wilfried Zaha (groin) will not play against Leeds,” journalist Matt Woosnam wrote on his personal Twitter account (7 April).
“Chris Richards and Nathan Ferguson are also out but on their way back.”
Crystal Palace had been in a slump until Hodgson arrived and got them a win over Fulham in his first game back.
But, without Zaha and their first-choice goalkeeper, Leeds will have no better chance of winning and pulling away from the pack at the bottom of the table.
They should be able to score goals with the attacking quality that Javi Gracia has available to him, including Wilfried Gnonto, Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Crysencio Summerville, Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra, and Brenden Aaronson.
There’s also plenty of pace there, and the defense has looked stronger since he arrived and organized the team.
Palace will certainly put up a fight and make it difficult, but the fans at Elland Road will be completely behind the team, and a win would be absolutely crucial in the fight against relegation.
