Leeds United holds concrete talks with agent to sign Barcelona speed forward

According to Sport, Leeds United have held conversations with the agency of Barcelona attacker Abde Ezzalzouli and will make a summer approach for him if they survive relegation.

The 21-year-old is presently on loan at La Liga club Osasuna, where he has three goals and two assists in 21 outings.

Despite Xavi and the board’s great regard for him, his chances of getting into the first-team at the Camp Nou are remote, and Leeds have made contact about signing him for next season if they can avoid relegation.

“His agent, Javier Garrido, has travelled to the United Kingdom and has met with Leeds United to discuss the future of the player he represents,” they stated on April 14 (in Spanish).

“The English club is considering signing Abde to bolster their forward line, and if they stay in the Premier League, they will make an offer for the Moroccan.”

Leeds appear to be looking for a specific type of attacker this summer, and Abde fits that description.

He’s a quick dribbler with a strong eye for a pass and good transitions, but his end product and physicality are both lacking.

If he were to join, he’d have to learn to use his body better and become stronger, but it appears he’d have to compete with a lot of attackers for game time, which would be a problem.

That is, unless players are anticipated to depart, which is a possibility with Patrick Bamford unable to make an impression, Rodrigo approaching the end of his contract, and Wilfried Gnonto connected with a move.

It’ll be fascinating to see whether the team goes ahead with this deal because it’s not going to be too expensive and he’s highly rated, with Football Talent Scout calling him “incredible.”
